Hot House Flowers: Aromatic Whites from Alsace to Austria

Such is the vogue for dry white wine, often tasting more like Evian and pear drops than anything more substantial, that you could be forgiven for writing whites off altogether as pretty meagre stuff.  But what a tragedy that would be when there is such a world of deliciousness waiting to be tapped, especially in the warm Summer months when we balance our greed for flavour with our need for refreshment.

Tonight we are heading East from Alsace to Austria to discover a dazzling array of exotic, aromatic whites, from floral Feteasca to salty, citrus scented Gruner Veltliner.  These are as gastronomic as they are thirst quenching and wonderfully individual.  We can't wait!

All wines will be accompanied by small boards of cheese and charcuterie to share.
